Gordon Hui Yip-wang has joined Camper & Nicholsons as a Senior Sales Broker in its Hong Kong office. Hui is best known in Asian yachting circles for his work with Sunseeker, having headed the British builder’s sales in the region from 2003 to 2020.

“We are delighted to welcome Gordon, a highly respected figure in the yachting industry, to our team,” said Lester Lam, Chairman of Camper & Nicholsons Asia and a member of C&N International’s Board of Directors.

In his new role, Gordon is looking forward to introducing clients to the sustainable innovations coming out of leading shipyards in Europe.

“I hope to look after my clients and help them upgrade to all the latest exciting brands and their new models,” Hui said. “For clients looking for 37m-plus metal or alloy yachts, we hope to introduce buyers to the latest hybrid systems since these are exciting, environmentally friendly superyachts that new owners can enjoy while looking after our oceans.”

Between 1992 and 2017, Hui personally owned seven Sunseeker yachts, the first three while living in England. After spending his early career in the property industry in the UK, Hui moved back to Hong Kong and established the dealership for Sunseeker in 2003.

He eventually oversaw most key territories in Asia including India, the Maldives, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Japan and China. During his time with Sunseeker, over 235 yachts and superyachts were sold across the entire region including 131 in Hong Kong.

Hui played an important role in opening the Chinese market to new-build yachts. He delivered a yacht to a client in Hangzhou in 2004, the first of over 20 Sunseeker sales in the mainland where dealerships were established in Sanya, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Qingdao. He plans to continue building his relationships in mainland China.

“The Chinese market is full of potential, especially with the current and proposed yacht-friendly regulations in Hainan,” he said. “For the past four years, 90 per cent of my clients in Hong Kong had been Chinese, so it’s an exciting time. It’s also important to monitor the Chinese brands for the local market and I am in close contact with several shipyards.”
