The Silent VisionF 82 is an evolution of the VisionF 80

Silent-Yachts has revealed details of the Silent VisionF 82 hybrid aluminium powercat, a product of the solar-electric catamaran builder’s ongoing collaboration with the VisionF shipyard in Turkey. Based in Istanbul, VisionF is one of the production facilities for Silent-Yachts models along with the Austrian-owned brand’s facility in Fano, Italy, and the PMG Shipyard in Rayong, Thailand.

VisionF reached out to Silent-Yachts to incorporate green technology on its existing VisionF 80, which will be on display at this year’s Palma International Boat Show (April 28-May 1).

The yacht has a bigger hardtop for solar panels

The Silent VisionF 82 is a hybrid version but also incorporates some design changes including a slight increase in length and a larger hard top to increase the capacity for solar panels, while there are more solar panels on the forward flybridge overhang. The 24m catamaran has a beam of 9.9m and the first unit is expected to be launched in late 2022.

Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts, said: “The Silent VisionF 82 is a fantastic yacht that will combine the best of both worlds and we are very excited about the first boat due to be finished later this year.

“The aim of our collaboration with VisionF Yachts is to share our expertise and know-how to support other manufacturers. “Tesla did something similar by opening up their patents and making the technology available to everyone. Similarly, we are very keen to share information about our propulsion systems to help guide the yachting industry towards a more sustainable future.”

The extended flybridge is fitted with a large solar platform like other Silent models to provide electrical energy that can be stored in a Lithium-ion battery bank (160kWh) to power all the household appliances. As a result, guests can enjoy a noiseless experience with zero emissions when anchoring in a bay or docked in a marina.

The yacht will be equipped with a parallel hybrid drivetrain, while a fully electric version is also available. The parallel hybrid system will offer three different driving modes: electric, hybrid and power, as may be offered on a hybrid car.

Master suite in the starboard hull

Suitable for clients who aren’t ready to go fully electric, the system provides electric power at low speeds or at anchor, and faster navigation under conventional power.

In hybrid mode, the system will automatically select the electric motor, the diesel engine or both, depending on factors such as speed and battery state. In power mode, both the diesel engine and electric motor will be engaged to boost acceleration and speed.

A typical cabin space can be dedicated to a gym cum office

The yacht has a single helm seat at the starboard side of the saloon and twin helm seats on the port side of the covered flybridge, which can also have a fixed dining table, sofas and seats, or have an open-plan design with loose furniture.

The main deck features al fresco dining in the aft cockpit and a 580sqft saloon that can include a long galley to starboard, while an alternative galley-down layout has the kitchen in the aft end of the port hull. The large solid foredeck includes a sunken lounge area.

The yacht can have three guest cabins, plus the master

Accommodation options in the two hulls include a 190sqft master suite in the starboard hull along with a guest cabin that can alternatively be used as an office and gym. The port hull can house two double or twin en-suite guest cabins, as well as either a galley or crew cabin aft, while the forepeaks can also be used as crew cabins or for storage.
