VP Yachts making its mark in Hong Kong

Newly formed VP Yachts has enjoyed a solid start to life as the exclusive Sessa Marine dealer in Hong Kong following its appointment by the Italian builder at the end of last year.

VP Yachts has signed its third sale of a Sessa motor yacht in seven months in what has been a busy period for the newly formed company since it was appointed as the Italian builder’s exclusive dealer for Hong Kong in November 2020.

The company started strongly by selling a Fly 68, the flagship of the Flybridge line, which also includes the Fly 42, Fly F47 and Fly 54 models. A unit was already in Hong Kong and proved an attractive proposition to an owner who bought it in December.

The Sessa C47 was premiered at this year’s Venice Boat Show

Early this year, VP Yachts secured its second Sessa sale when it sold a Fly 47, which is due to be delivered to Hong Kong in early 2022.

And recently the company sold a C38, which is part of the builder’s line of small Cruiser yachts along with the C35. Sessa also produces a Yacht line of cruiser models ranging from the C42 to the C68.

“It has been an exciting time for us because although my family and I have a lot of experience in the yachting industry from a service and maintenance perspective, VP Yachts is a new company specialising in sales. We’re happy to have started quite well with some sales for Sessa,” said Vivian Chan, founder and Director of VP Yachts.

SERVICE BACKGROUND

Chan, who named the company after the initials of her and her daughter’s first names (VP), is also General Manager of the Aberdeen-based Sun Hing Shipyard, which was founded by her father in 1981. Sun Hing has worked with many of Hong Kong’s leading yacht dealers and is the official North Asia service centre for Dufour sailing yachts.

Interior of the Sessa C47

VP Yachts believes Sessa Marine has a strong range of models to offer Hong Kong owners, having recently staged the world premiere of the C47 at the second Venice Boat Show in June. The three-cabin yacht is distinguished from its sister models by a door and electric window that separates the cockpit from the saloon, while Chan has other favourites from the Sessa range.

“The C47 is brand new and looks like a great boat and I also like the Fly 54, which is really sporty and sleek,” Chan says. “The size of the Fly 54 means it can be driven in Hong Kong on a Grade Two licence. It’s a good-sized family boat and can easily be handled and manoeuvred by a new boat owner.”
