The 42.5m Explorer Ice Class being built by Arkin Pruva and due for delivery in 2022 has been upgraded to adhere to the latest IMO gas emission regulations. Designed by Karatas Yacht Design, the 139ft motor yacht will be RINA Ice Class D certified and is exclusively represented by Camper & Nicholsons.
To ensure the new build’s machinery meets the latest IMO requirements, specifically when it comes to NOx SOx Tier III gas emission, the yacht will be equipped with the latest 2021 MAN engines fitted with SCR exhausts.
To satisfy the environmental regulations stipulated in the latest IMO requirements, the entire engine room had to be redesigned by Karatas to accommodate the new engines along with additional equipment. The additional cost was absorbed by Arkin Pruva to keep the total budget under €10 million (about US$12 million).
“This collaborative endeavour reinforces the new vision of sustainability within the yachting industry,” Camper & Nicholsons stated.
“This yacht is an exceptional opportunity for her new owner to enjoy her high specs, the latest environmentally aware engines and her explorer capabilities, getting access to the most secluded and protected areas of the world’s oceans while keeping in mind their conservation.”
