Sunseeker is scheduled to stage the world premiere of the Ocean 182 at next year’s Cannes Yachting Festival from September 12-17, with the US premiere of the model following at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The Ocean 182 refers to the yacht’s GT and is the new name for the enclosed version of the 90 Ocean, which launched last year and introduced a new wide-beam, high-volume offering. The 90 Ocean and Ocean 182 have an overall length of 88ft 11in and a beam of 23ft 6in, making them wider than Sunseeker’s 95 Yacht and 100 Yacht, and just 6in slimmer than the 116 Yacht.
The 90 Ocean and Ocean 182 now form part of a new Ocean series at Sunseeker that also includes the newly designed Ocean 156 (80ft) – a project announced at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival – as well as the Ocean 42M (138ft) and Ocean 50M (159ft). The Ocean collection is now separate to the Yacht (76 Yacht, 88 Yacht, 95 Yacht, 100 Yacht) and Superyacht (116 Yacht, 131 Yacht) series.
The main difference between the 90 Ocean and Ocean 182 is the enclosed flybridge, which contains the yacht’s sole helm station. The superstructure is dominated by glazing and offers panoramic views from the helm station, while a tilting vain sunroof allows more natural light and ventilation.
Furniture options in the interior include a dining table with sideboards to port and starboard, or two sofas, as well as an integrated bar with three stools. Aft is an open-air area with freestanding furniture.
Andrea Frabetti, CEO at Sunseeker International, said: “We are delighted to bring yet another new model to market. The Ocean 182 combines the beauty of elegant Sunseeker design and craftsmanship with practicality and liveability for owners.
“We have considered in meticulous detail this very special configuration, how it will be used and the exquisite materials required to elevate every single space. The scale of this yacht is frankly beyond compare, from an expansive open-plan main deck ideal for socialising to its fully-featured flybridge, this is one remarkable yacht.”
With just one helm station on the flybridge, the space and options on the main deck increase, with an open-plan saloon offering multiple seating arrangements. The galley is forward to port and features Miele appliances plus the option of a wine cooler, while the spacious dining area can feature a large dining table for up to eight guests. Another notable difference is aft of the galley, where a stainless steel and timber staircase leads up to the enclosed flybridge.
The lower deck is based on the 90 Ocean, so the main stairs lead to a hallway leading to a double and twin guest cabins aft and the full-beam owner’s suite forward. The VIP suite is in the bow and is accessed by private stairs forward of the dining area.
As on the 90 Ocean, the yacht features an enormous 24sqm beach club measuring 6m by 4m, complete with a double X-TEND™ sunbed system, which can fold down to be an aft-facing sofa or raised to main-deck level to significantly expand the cockpit area.
The raised garage door contains a rain shower, while inside is ample space for water toys, racking for towels or diving equipment. Two dedicated Seabob lockers are set into the floor, while a tender and/or jetskis can be stowed on the hydraulic platform. The Ocean 182 has the option of twin 1,650hp or 1,900hp MAN V12 engines, reaching 27 knots with the latter and a range of 1,800nm at a displacement speed of 12 knots.
