Sunreef Yachts has launched the Sunreef 80 Eco, which is the first sailing catamaran from its new Eco range. The hull was launched in cold weather at the builder’s shipyard in Gdansk on Poland’s north coast.
The all-electric Sunreef 80 Eco is a fully-autonomous luxury catamaran using green tech for fuel-free cruising in silence. The solar power system, which features on all Eco sailing models, includes ultralight composite-integrated solar panels within the hull sides, mast, superstructure and bimini roof. Using an industry-first technology, the photovoltaic system can deliver up to 36kWp.
Francis Lapp, founder and President of Sunreef Yachts, said: “We take a great step forward with this truly pioneering yacht. Renewable energy is the key element in the design of the Sunreef 80 Eco. Thanks to a revolutionary solar power system, hydro-generation and performance sails, the Sunreef 80 Eco provides full autonomy, relying on the sun, water and wind.”
Sunreef is also building the Eco power models, starting with the 80 Sunreef Power Eco. The builder is offering Eco versions of its 50, 60, 70, 80 and 100 sailing models, as well as 60, 70, 80, 100 and 40 Open power models.
