Azimut Grande 36 Metri

Azimut followed up the 2021 launch of its flagship Grande Trideck with two new Grande superyachts in 2022, with the first hulls of the 36 Metri and 26 Metri debuting at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Both feature exterior styling by Alberto Mancini and interiors by Achille Salvagni, the same designers behind the 38m Trideck, which was joined by the Grande 36 Metri at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Azimut’s second-biggest model, the 116ft Grande 36 Metri is distinguished by a semi-walkaround upper deck, which runs on the same level from the stern almost to the tip of the bow. The skylounge side doors can slide out of view, transforming the upper deck into a huge open space offering panoramic views.

Azimut Grande 26 Metri

The Grande 26 Metri’s signature feature is the Deck2Deck™ terrace, where the transom rises to adjoin the main deck and expand the cockpit, which can be used either as a lounge or dining area. Convertible furniture adds to the flexibility, while a main-deck owner’s suite with full-height windows is among other features.

The 86-footer is fitted with the new 4600 Pod propulsion system developed by ZF and, like the 36 Metri, is among Azimut’s new generation of Low Emission Yachts.

Azimut Magellano 30 Metri

The Magellano 30 Metri is Azimut’s other major new model in 2022 and is the new flagship of the builder’s long-range series. The 97ft model features exterior styling by Ken Freivokh and interior design by Vincenzo De Cotiis, the same design team behind the Magellano 25 Metri released in late 2020.

Azimut’s newcomers also include the updated Magellano 66, a 20m model that had its debut at this year’s Venice Boat Show, and features in-house exterior and interior design.

Sister company Benetti has also had an exciting year for new models, staging the global debuts of the Oasis 34M and B.Yond 37M at Cannes, while premiere at Monaco included the B.Now 50M Iryna.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

The steel-hulled B.Yond 37M has a remarkable five decks and was conceived by Azimut-Benetti owner Paolo Vitelli and designed by the late Stefano Righini, who passed away in October 2021 having worked with Vitelli since the 1980s. While the enormous space offered by five decks is an obvious appeal, Benetti is proudest of the model’s technology, describing it as “the greenest model ever built in its class”.

The E-Mode Hybrid system by Siemens Energy optimises onboard energy consumption and results in “unprecedented CO2 and NOx emissions reductions for a yacht in this category”, Benetti states. The system combines with SCR catalytic filters, a gas-control technology that uses a urea-based liquid solution, while the yacht has four operating modes including Full Electric for zero-emission navigation.

Benetti Oasis 34M

The Oasis 34M is the little sister of the Oasis 40M, a 134-footer with tremendous sales around the world including in Asia-Pacific.

Also featuring exterior design by UK firm RWD and an interior by New York-based Bonetti & Kozerski, the 112ft Oasis 34M is similarly distinguished by the ‘Oasis Deck’, with opening wings either side of a beach area featuring an infinity pool integrated into the sunbathing and lounge area.

Benetti B.Now 50M

A world premiere at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show, the B.Now 50M is the first in a family of four steel models, which also includes the B.Now 60M, B.Now 67M and B.Now 72M. All feature exterior design by UK-based studio RWD and are available with a traditional aft deck or the Oasis Deck® pioneered by the shipyard’s Oasis 40M.

Benetti announced at Monaco that 16 units of the B.Now 50M had been sold as of late September, making it “the world’s most popular 50m model”. It also stated that delivery times are 30 per cent shorter than market standards due to advanced construction technology and hull engineering solutions.

Custom Line 140’

ITALIAN STYLE

The new Custom Line 140’ is the builder’s largest to date and was the biggest of the Ferretti Group’s world premieres at Cannes before showing at Monaco. Compared to Custom Line’s Navetta 42 displacement yacht, the flagship 140’ is longer (42.6m) and wider (8.4m), and larger, with a volume close to 400GT.

A tri-deck planing yacht with a top speed over 21 knots, the 140’ is also the third Custom Line yacht with exterior styling by Francesco Paszkowski Design and interiors by Margherita Casprini. Ferretti Group Asia Pacific recently announced the sale of a first Custom Line 140’ to Asia.

Riva Anniversario

Riva has debuted multiple models this year as it celebrates its 180th anniversary, a landmark that inspired the Anniversario.

The 33-footer pays tribute to the legendary Aquarama and has a limited-edition run of just 18 boats. The Anniversario had a private debut at Riva’s anniversary gala in Venice before appearing at Cannes with several other new models in a huge Ferretti Group display.

Riva 76’ Bahamas Super

New Riva models – all designed by Officina Italiana Design co-founders Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta – include the 76’ Bahamas Super and the 102’ Corsaro Super, both upgrades of previous models.

Based on the 100’ Corsaro that debuted in Hong Kong in 2017, the 102’ Corsaro Super’s changes are significant, with the superstructure and hull renewed, glazing increased and aft glass fashion plates added.

Riva 102’ Corsaro Super

Two saloon layouts are now available, but the most notable change is a redesign of the stern area on the main deck, now configured as an extended 35sqm beach club and part of almost 100sqm of liveable open-air spaces. Options include special gunwales that swing out on either side of the main deck to create terraces.

Riva 130’ Bellissima

Riva’s new pride and joy is the 130’ Bellissima, a 40m yacht with an almost 8m beam. Bellissima is the first planing yacht in the builder’s Flybridge range to extend across three full decks, with a full-widebody design, while remaining under 300GT.

Ferretti Yachts 860

The Ferretti Yachts 860 is another world premiere from Cannes. The builder’s third-biggest model behind the 920 and flagship 1000 is also the third featuring both exterior design by architect Filippo Salvetti and an interior by IdeaeItalia. Available in Classic or Contemporary ‘moods’, the interior includes Art Deco-inspired curves and a large helical staircase linking the main and lower decks.

Wallypower58

The Wallypower58 debuted at the Venice Boat Show and appeared at Cannes, where Wally founder Luca Bassani was again hosting sea trials. It’s the first wallypower model launched by Ferretti Group since it bought Wally and takes design cues from the recent wallytender48 and wallytender43, such as the angular profile, wraparound fender and single-chine hull.

Foldout sides expand the aft deck, while interior highlights include ‘magic portholes’ on each side, with 4K-resolution cameras broadcasting the outside view on port and starboard screens in the saloon.

SMART PERFORMERS

Sanlorenzo’s large display at Cannes included the world premieres of the pioneering SP110 open coupé and SD90. Featuring a sub-24m hull and an overall length of almost 28m, the SD90 is the new entry-level model of the builder’s SD line of semi-displacement shuttles, which also includes the SD96 and SD118.

Sanlorenzo SD90

The SD90 features exterior lines by Bernardo Zuccon and interior design by Patricia Urquiola, while Philippe Briand was also involved in research for a model that has a ‘sustainable hybrid’ propulsion system designed in collaboration with Siemens.

The eye-catching SP110 kicks off a new ‘smart performance’ range for Sanlorenzo and features input by Zuccon for the exteriors, Tilli Antonelli overseeing the SP range, Marco Arnaboldi for the hull design and Piero Lissoni, Sanlorenzo’s Art Director, for the interiors.

Sanlorenzo SP110

Featuring an overall length of 33m and a beam of over 8m, the SP110 is notable for its huge aft deck, as seen on the SX series, while introducing a clever fold-down swim platform that reveals integrated steps.

The model has a lower-deck saloon like the BGX models and BG72 from sister brand Bluegame, yet takes this a step further with an atrium-style, two-level interior. Advanced technology includes a fractional three-engine propulsion system, so the boat can move using just one engine, a pair or all three.

Bluegame BG54

Bluegame’s newest model is the BG54, which debuted at this year’s Palma International Boat Show and exhibited at Cannes. The 54-footer with an almost 16ft beam sits between the BG42 and BG62 models that helped relaunch the brand under Sanlorenzo’s ownership.

Like Bluegame’s other new models, the BG54 features a huge aft swim platform and Volvo Penta IPS, which allows the engines to sit below the aft platform and create more room inside the lower deck, which has a spacious galley area between the forward and midships cabins.

Absolute Navetta 75 at 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival

Absolute’s two new models for 2022 both debuted at Cannes and includes its flagship Navetta 75, which features the builder’s now-signature cockpit terrace with modular furniture, stainless-steel guardrail and glazed balustrade. Other Absolute signatures include the master stateroom forward on the lower deck.

The builder’s other premiere was the Absolute 56 Fly, a model already in Hong Kong. Like the Navetta 75 and other recent models including the 60 Fly, the 56 has a clear aft cockpit with modular furniture and transparent balustrade, increasing connectivity to the swim platform and water.

Absolute 56 Fly

Other features include opening saloon windows and a full-beam beam owner’s cabin forward on the lower deck, which also has a twin cabin and a full-beam VIP that could pass for a master suite. Absolute is offering the option of solar panels in the hard top of its new models.

The next chapter of the series focuses on new motor yachts by British builders.
