Gulf Craft, which joined the Super Yachts Builders Association (SYBAss) in 2021, has underlined its commitment to ocean conservation by supporting the Water Revolution Foundation’s Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) programme. The programme aims to restore the balance of life in the ocean by identifying important habitats for marine mammals for positive conservation actions.

The IMMAs programme is currently focused on the North Atlantic, a heavily trafficked region of the ocean and a popular route for superyachts crossing between the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

Mohammed Alshaali, co-founder and Chairman of Gulf Craft, said: “Conserving the marine environment is the responsibility of every stakeholder, and we are strongly committed to initiatives that will help protect the habitats for marine mammals. The joy of exploring the high seas is to take delight in the exotic sightings of marine mammals, so protecting their habitats is a priority.

“The Water Revolution Foundation has provided the superyacht industry with tools, knowledge and best practices to mitigate the ecological footprint and to promote the conservation of oceans. We are an environmentally and socially responsible institution, and continue to explore opportunities to partner in the global effort to conserve our marine environment for future generations.”

In addition to supporting global conservation efforts, Gulf Craft also participates in sustainability initiatives across the UAE. Every year, the builder participates in desert, beach and mangrove clean-ups organised by the government or the Emirates Environmental Group, a non-governmental organisation that runs waste-management campaigns in tandem with UAE-based businesses.
