Fountaine Pajot is developing a New 80 sailing catamaran, which will become the La Rochelle builder’s flagship when it’s launched in 2023. The first hull was sold earlier this year.
Designed by Berrett Racoupeau, the La Rochelle studio headed by Olivier Racoupeau, the New 80 has an overall length of 78ft 8in (23.98m), a beam of 36ft 4in (11.09m) and a draft of 6ft 11in (2.1m), with a hard top and superstructure covered in solar panels.
Highlights include two ‘side cockpits’ with water-facing sofas and drop-down balconies. The beach club has a large aft-facing sofa, two corner sofas and a central hydraulic platform, which can lower to link the two transoms for a large waterside area or raise to cockpit level.
The aft sofa stores a jetski, while on the foredeck sides are integrated lockers for paddleboards, scuba gear and/or Seabobs.
The forward area of the aft cockpit has inward-facing sofas and a lengthways-dining table. The foredeck has direct access from the saloon, sunken seating on both sides, a wet bar, and an integrated jacuzzi and sunpads in the bow.
The flybridge offers a large area, with a large table and C-shaped sofa to port, and an L-shaped sofa and further seating to starboard. The twin helm stations have been re-centred, with a winch for sailing manoeuvres positioned away from the relaxation areas.
On the main deck, the saloon has large sliding glass windows and is available with a galley occupying the length of the port side or a galley-down version with the kitchen in the aft port hull.
The galley-down version of the saloon includes long facing sofas and a forward chart table to starboard of central cabinets around the mast, while to port is an L-shaped bar, sofas and optional wine fridge.
Accommodation options with the galley-down option include a version with six en-suite double guest cabins – comprising four in the starboard hull and two port – as well as four crew cabins.
The VIP version features a large suite and two standard guest cabins in the starboard hull, while the Maestro has an aft VIP and forward master suite with jacuzzi to starboard for a total of four guest cabins. Both have three crew cabins.
In the galley-up version, the Maestro design with a master and VIP in the starboard hull is complemented by three guest cabins and three crew cabins to port. The yacht includes include a main sail area of 200sqm (2,153sqft) and a genoa area of 140sqm (1,507sqft), while propulsion options including two 175hp, 270hp or 300hp engines.
The New 80 has a fresh water capacity of 1,600 litres, along with 2,400 litres of fuel with the option of an extra 1,000 litres.
