First Swan 108 launches in Finland

Nautor Swan has launched the first Swan 108 at the Boatbuilding Technology Centre in the House of Swan in Pietarsaari, Finland. Positioned between the Swan 98 and 120, the superyacht marks a new era for the Maxi Swan series and will make her worldwide debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 27-30.

With a hull length of 33m (108ft 3in) and an overall length of 35m (114ft 10in) with the bowsprit, the Swan 108 features exterior styling by Italian designer Lucio Micheletti of Micheletti + Partners, interior design by fellow Italian Misa Poggi and naval architecture by German Frers, the 81-year-old Argentine who has designed for Swan for over four decades.

Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Group, said: “The Swan 108 marks a new era in the Swan Maxi range at Nautor. The project has been like drawing a beautiful painting. Like a painter meticulously chooses his palette, we made a very intense research of talents that were able to put on the table their know-how and blend it with the other to create a beautiful and unique product.”

Built with full carbon hull and deck in epoxy Sprint technology from carbon moulds, the sailing superyacht will be registered with Rina charter classification.

One of the most important innovations is the new dual-acting transom door. This simple yet robustly engineered mechanism, is a major ‘small’ revolution. The stern opens along with part of the aft deck to give the customer an over-sized beach club. This solution allows to double the space available for this important area of the boat, as well as making the tender management far easier.

On deck, the coamings widen in the aft part of the cockpit, allowing a further outboard position for the steering stations while still maintaining good helm protection. The extra-large main companionway provides an incredible light-well for the interior.

Hull two of the Swan 108 is currently in build at the Boatbuilding Technology Centre along with a Swan 88 (click for article) and Swan 128 (click for article). Asiamarine represents Swan in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.
