Simpson Marine said it expects the second Beneteau Cup Hong Kong in 2022 to have more entries than the first edition in May 2021, which featured 21 boats ranging in size from a First 25S to an Oceanis 51.1 and over 200 crew and guests.
Simpson Marine, which has represented the French builder since 1985, and Beneteau APAC have announced that the 2022 edition will be held from May 28-29 and will again be organised with Aberdeen Boat Club (ABC). The weekend event is set to feature an islands race on day one and a pursuit race on day two.
Richard Allen, Simpson Marine Group General Manager, said: “The first Hong Kong edition of the Beneteau Cup was a tremendous success. The combination of competitive and fun racing, a social atmosphere, and fantastic prize presentations and dining experiences was unforgettable.
“We expect to see even more entries in 2022 and there is already much anticipation as the Beneteau Cup has already become a firm favourite. We hope to see all Beneteau owners with their crews, friends and family again in May to have a fun time on and off the water.”
A themed gala dinner will be staged at ABC Middle Island on the Saturday evening while Sunday’s schedule will conclude with an afternoon awards ceremony at The Pulse Roof Top Repulse Bay, where guests can enjoy sunset views while seeing the fleet anchored below. Registration for the second Beneteau Cup Hong Kong will open in January.
Erwan Her, Beneteau APAC Sales Director, said: “I am delighted to announce to Beneteau owners that planning for the second Beneteau Cup Hong Kong is already underway. The 2022 edition will be another fun weekend mixing racing and partying.
“The scenic Hong Kong waters are an ideal place for this kind of event, and we believe this new yachting rendezvous is becoming one of the region’s most eagerly awaited sailing events. I’d like to invite all Beneteau owners and their friends to come celebrate the 2022 edition with the same enthusiasm and happiness we had the pleasure of witnessing in 2021.”
Like in 2021, the second event will continue initiatives to give back to the community, supporting charitable efforts to inspire, motivate and support underprivileged communities and encourage environmental causes and consciousness in Hong Kong.
