Azimut’s Grande Trideck features an Alberto Mancini exterior

Azimut’s Grande Trideck is one of the most exciting world premieres of 2021 and is displaying at both the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 7-12) and the Monaco Yacht Show (September 22-25). With an overall length of 38.2m or 125ft 5in, the Trideck is 10ft 7in longer than the yard’s previous flagship, the Grande 35 Metri.

Hull one was delivered to its owner at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, while the second hull hit the water in June. Designed by Alberto Mancini, the sub-300GT superyacht is the builder’s first tri-deck, featuring lower, main, upper and sun decks, as well as the option of five or six guest cabins. Interiors are by Achille Salvagni, while Pierluigi Ausonio worked with Azimut-Benetti on naval architecture.

The standout feature is the sea view terrace, an extra 320sqft deck at the stern that sits aft of and a few steps above the private patio on the main deck. The terrace features a huge, aft-facing C-shaped sofa and sits above most of the beach club, which is served by a day head and wet bar.

Like on the Grande S10, which Mancini also designed, the sea view terrace (or aft main deck) provides privacy for a covered patio with dining table positioned by the entrance to the interior.

Other outdoor areas include the aft upper deck, which features the main outdoor dining area with a square table and corner sofas, while forward on the same deck is the foredeck lounge with a circular whirlpool tub. Up top, the open sun deck features a large sunbathing area aft with freestanding furniture, a central lounge with facing sofas and table, and a forward bar and barbecue.

Salvagni has created a relaxed interior that includes a main-deck lounge with no formal dining area, while forward are the galley and master suite. The upper deck features the upper saloon, which can be converted to an indoor dining area, as well as the option of a captain’s cabin or guest cabin. The lower deck has two VIP suites aft and two guest cabins forward, plus four cabins for six crew.

FLYBRIDGE NEWCOMERS

Mancini has also designed two of Azimut’s other world premieres at Cannes, the 53 (Review, Issue 60) and 68 from the Flybridge range, which follow the 78 he designed that premiered at Cannes in 2019.

The first Azimut 53 in Asia is already in Hong Kong

The 53 had an online presentation in March and the first unit into Asia recently arrived in Hong Kong through Marine Italia, which also represents Azimut in Macau, Guangdong province, Taiwan and Singapore.

With a typically sleek profile, the 53 has an overall length of 55ft and a 16ft-plus beam. The flybridge has a three-sided seating area aft and an adjustable table, twin-seat helm to port and wet bar to starboard, plus a large sunbathing area forward. The foredeck has a sofa and adjustable triple sunpad.

The aft cockpit has only one stairway to the swim platform, to starboard, which frees up room for a large L-shaped sofa to port. The split-level interior starts with an aft galley before two steps up a 25cm rise lead to the saloon and helm station to starboard.

Volvo’s IPS propulsion system reduces the size of the engine room and increases space for the lower-deck accommodation, which comprises a master midships, twin to starboard and VIP forward, while the lobby has space for a washer-dryer plus storage. With twin 725hp IPS950 engines, the 53 has a top speed up to 31 knots and a cruising speed up to 27.

The Azimut 68 expands the Flybridge Collection

The 68 is the newest addition to the Flybridge Collection and features interiors and exterior furniture by Salvagni plus naval architecture by Ausonio. It offers three different saloon layouts on the main deck: with a forward galley either open or closed, or an open aft galley.

Below deck, four cabins and three bathrooms accommodate up to eight guests, while the yacht has a top speed of 32 knots with twin Volvo IPS 1350 pods.

BENETTI PREMIERES

Benetti’s world premieres this autumn include the Motopanfilo 37M, at Cannes, after which hull one will be delivered to its owner. Inspired by the 1960s navette, Francesco Struglia collaborated with Benetti for the exterior, while Lazzarini Pickering Architects handled the interiors of the four-deck yacht distinguished by a cosy ‘sheltered nook’ on the observation deck.

The saloon features modern-style glazed surfaces, gently curved ceilings and extensive use of warm wood and light colours for the floors, while the owner’s suite is forward on the main deck. On the lower deck, the four guest cabins follow the gentle curve of the hull, while Lazzarini Pickering’s ubiquitous ‘rib structure’ is again on display.

Benetti’s FB274 Zazou makes her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show after her spectacular launch in April. The fully custom 65m superyacht features an exterior by Giorgio Cassetta and a hull in Carinthia blue, while Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design handled the interior and some exterior areas.

The megayacht has six guest suites, while features include a huge sun deck, gym, 5m swimming pool, an outdoor cinema and another cinema on the main deck. Zazou is powered by two 1,850hp Caterpillar 3512C engines for a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots, plus a range of 5,000nm at 12knots.
