Azimut is preparing to start the year by launching its 53 Flybridge, along with its Grande 38 Metri flagship. Alberto Mancini designed the exterior of the 53 Flybridge, having also worked on the exterior of the 38 Metri, the 78 Flybridge that debuted at Cannes in 2019 and many of the S range’s newest models.
The 53 has an overall length of 16.78m (55ft 1in) and a beam of 4.95m (16ft 3in). With only one stairway from the swim platform, the cockpit features an L-shaped sofa and can also be fitted with a bar unit with ice maker and bottle chillers. The transom can carry a RIB or water toys and has access to either a storage room or a crew cabin with ensuite bathroom.
Accessed by starboard stairs, the flybridge has an up-down table and continuous seating from behind the stairwell around to behind the twin-seat helm station to port. To starboard is a wet bar, while the forward part of the flybridge is dedicated to a full-width sunbathing area.
The Azimut Style Office handled the elegant, contemporary interiors of a boat designed ‘for a family who want to spend long periods on board in absolute comfort’. The interior starts with an aft galley to port, while two steps lead up to the saloon, which is 25cm higher than the aft deck and features side windows that run uninterrupted, with no uprights.
Forward stairs lead to the lower-deck lobby, which has space for a washer-dryer and storage. To starboard is the twin guest cabin, while the VIP cabin in the bow benefits from space created by the yacht’s upright bow.
Azimut-Benetti’s R&D team developed the naval architecture. The choice of Volvo’s IPS propulsion system reduces the amount of space needed in the engine room, which also creates great space on the lower deck, where the full-beam master suite midships offers a predominantly full-height space to move around in.
The master has large storage spaces, with a fully appointed walk-in wardrobe in addition to a second storage column and half-height units along the side, plus additional space under the bed for bulkier objects.
As well as allowing for more interior volume, the two 725hp Volvo Penta IPS 950s deliver a top speed of up to 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots, reduce noise, improve efficiency and increase manoeuvrability, simplifying mooring operations.
Azimut builds motor yachts from 34-125ft across its Atlantis, Magellano, Flybridge, S, Verve and Grande collections. Marine Italia represents Azimut in Hong Kong, Macau, southern China, Taiwan and Singapore.
