Sanlorenzo has already sold five units of its SD118, a model that introduces asymmetric design to the builder’s semi-displacement line range, which also includes the SD96 and SD126.
The Italian shipyard first showcased asymmetric designs on the SL96A and SL102A in its planing range, featuring only one side deck on the main deck, to starboard.
However, on the four-deck SD118, the asymmetry is on the upper deck, where designer Bernardo Zuccon has included a side deck on the port side – including an opening terrace – while the starboard side is like that of a wide-body hull.
Other novel features on the 35.75m model with a 7.9m beam include the bow, where the outdoor areas on the upper and main decks are connected by a central stairway, which covers private access from the owner’s suite.
The new model also has a revised stern zone, which can be transformed into a 19sqm swim platform due to large lateral hatches that open and can be set up for diving and sunbathing.
The model scheduled to premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2021 will feature an interior by Bernardo and Martina Zuccon, while other interior designs include a version by Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola.
Engine options include twin MTU 10V2000M86 (1,380hp) or CAT ACERT C32 (1,622hp), which provide top speeds of 18 and 19 knots respectively.
Sanlorenzo has shipyards in La Spezia, Ameglia, Viareggio and Massa, generating €455.9 million (about US$540 million) in consolidated net revenues in 2019. The company is represented in Asia by SimpsonMarine.
