Wider is scheduled to launch the first hull of its WiderCat 92 from its new Fano shipyard in spring 2023 ahead of the model’s world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 12-17. The shipyard has announced that five hulls have been sold, with two set to be delivered to the United States through Widers partnership with MarineMax as its exclusive dealer in US.

The hulls and decks of the WiderCat 92 are being laminated and will be assembled and joined in November 2022, before work begins on the lower deck, such as systems and furnishings. The models of the two superstructures have also been completed.

The WiderCat 92 featured in Yacht Style’s 2022 Multihulls Issue. Designed by Luca Dini and Wider Centro Stile (Wider Style Centre), the 92ft powercat has a beam of over 39ft. The beam extends when the side platforms drop, which offers direct side access to both VIP cabins and forms a 720sqft, three-sided beach club with the garage door down.

Solar panels covering 1,830sqft deliver self-sufficiency at anchor, with unused energy stored in the lithium batteries to power systems at night. Wider’s serial hybrid system enables a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range over 1,600nm at eight knots or up to 2,400nm at six knots, while in zero-emission mode, the yacht can travel 27nm at six knots in silence.

WiderCat 92 in build in Fano

Focused on production of Wider’s powercats, the Fano shipyard is situated by a popular marina on Italy’s Adriatic coast and occupies an 11,000sqm seafront site, with an almost-100m quay. The shipyard also includes an innovation centre dedicated to design, new technologies and eco-friendly initiatives such as incorporating sustainable materials such as wood and glass.

In Venice , further up the Adriatic coast, Wider has laid the keel of the Moonflower 72 hybrid superyacht at the builder’s brand-new hub dedicated to superyachts and full custom projects.

Announced earlier this year and due for delivery in 2025, the 236ft, 1,450GT steel and aluminium superyacht features an exterior by Nauta Design, and naval architecture and interiors by Wider.

Moonflower 72 will be equipped with the Wider hybrid propulsion system comprising two variable-speed generators of 1,860kW each and a sodium nickel battery bank of approximately 1mW.

Wider’s new facilities in Fano and Venice follow last year’s recapitalisation under Marcello Maggi and holding company W-Fin Sarl, with the company already surpassing all its objectives set in September 2021.
