Western Circuit Regatta attracts over 150 sailors

The 24th edition of the Western Circuit Sailing Regatta in Singapore featured 156 sailors competing on boats in seven classes.

Hosted by Raffles Marina in partnership with Singapore Management University (SMU), the 24th edition of the Western Circuit Sailing Regatta (WCSR) was held on the weekend of August 19-20 and featured yachts competing in seven classes.

 

RSYC Dua triumphed in the J24 class

 

A total of 156 sailors competed in the event, which had boats competing in IRC (five boats), PY (seven), J24 (three), Multihull (one), SB20 (10) and Hansa 2.3 (10), the latter featuring both single and double-handed classes.

 

Waka Tere won the IRC class

 

Waka Tere won IRC, Brio won PY (Portsmouth Yardstick), RSYC Dua and Purple Path won the J24 and SB20 one-design classes respectively, while Miss Visayan was the sole entry in Multihull.

In the two Hansa 2.3 classes, Yap Qian Yin won the single-handed category while Chong Wei Ken and Tan Yi Feng took the double-handed division.

The regatta raised S$8,782 for the Sailability programme at the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC). During the gala dinner, YP Loke, Raffles Marina’s Vice President, presented the cheque to Kelly Fan, SDSC’s Executive Director, and Jovin Tan, SDSC’s Paralympian and Sailability Coach.
