AkzoNobel has partnered with inspirational boating figures from across the world to curate a yachting playlist called That Feeling of Summer that can be found on Spotify (click for playlist or search ‘That Feeling of Summer’.
Every track from the 29-strong playlist has been selected by one of the 11 influential individuals taking part in the That Feeling of Summer campaign, sharing what the feeling of being involved in the world of sailing means to them. Their song choices reflect their experiences of being on the water and range from crashing rock classics to soothing melodies.
Record-breaking Lisa Blair, who became the first woman to sail solo around Antarctica, chose the relaxing ‘Soul of a Sailor’ by Kenny Chesney, while marine artist Monique Richter opted for AC/DC’s high-energy, riff-driven ‘Thunderstruck’.
Sea with Katie, sportfishing influencer and inspirational educator of sustainable fishing and marine conservation, picked ‘Tainted Love’ as her boat beat.
Riley and Elayna of YouTube channel Sailing La Vagabonde – which has over 1.85 million subscribers – love to listen to ‘Summertime’ by The Zombies while out on the water.
While running his own business from their boat Sailing Sweet, Ruca Curtis and experienced language teacher Kate enjoy listening to ‘Thunder’ by Imagine Dragons as they inspire sailors across the globe.
Jaynae and Jason took the leap from working the nine-to-five lifestyle to living on the water and capturing it in the YouTube channel, Leading the Escapade, sharing love for the track ‘Music Sounds Better with You’ by Stardust.
Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, Olympic gold medal winners in Rio and Tokyo, added the remastered version of The Clash classic ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’.
The playlist is part of AkzoNobel’s ‘That Feeling’ campaign, which invites the yacht community – from applicators to distributors and sailors to captains – to share the pride and passion they feel from a life connected with sailing and the open water.
