Mr Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Mr Narong Woonsiew, the Governor of Phuket, will all attend the opening day of the second Thailand Charter Week at Phuket Yacht Haven in the northeast of the island.
On Wednesday afternoon, November 16, the government officials will visit three of the exhibiting yachts: the 34m Xanadu of London, built by Dutch shipyard Moonen, the 39m Indiana and the 30m Mia Kai, both built by Turkey’s Bilgin Yachts. Other superyachts on show will include the 30m schooner Dallinghoo and 28m Thai-built Maha Bhetra.
After the yacht visits, the VIPs will attend the opening ceremony, make speeches and cut the ribbons to officially open the second edition of the event, which will be held at Yacht Haven until Saturday, November 19.
Participating yachts will be on display at Yacht Haven for inspections from 10am-6pm on the Thursday and Friday (November 17-18). On the Saturday (November 19), selected yachts will host guests as they take a tour of nearby Phang Nga Bay.
As well as Wednesday’s opening ceremony, social events include Thursday evening cocktails at Yacht Haven and a party on the Friday night at The PlayYard, located further up the coast from Yacht Haven.
Organised by the Thai Yachting Business Association (TYBA), the Thailand Charter Week is Asia’s premier charter industry event. First held in 2019, it provides a ‘B2B’ platform for luxury charter yacht brokers and luxury travel agents to inspect charter yachts, experience Phuket’s famed hospitality, and network with yachting and tourism industry professionals.
Yacht Style and parent company Lux Inc Media are media partners of the Thailand Charter Week for a second time, while Helicam is a sponsor.
