SKAYR Yachts has announced that its SKR40 Renanda will debut at Boot Dusseldorf in January 2023 after signing a build contract for the luxury sports cruiser with Light Ray Yachts, which currently manufactures and refits 30m-60m superyachts in Antalya Free Zone.
The 40-footer features an aluminium hull with a plumb bow, a spacious master cabin forward and the option of twin Volvo Penta D6-440 stem drives or twin Mercury V8 outboards for an anticipated top speed of 40 knots.
The contemporary design is the work of Raul Renanda, Design Director of SKAYR Yachts and an architect, designer, artist and sculptor whose work includes the sailboat-influenced Sjuman+Renanda concert grand piano designed with composer Aksan Sjuman.
Renanda co-founded SKAYR Yachts with Firman Santoso and naval architect Nino Krisnan, with the company and yacht names representing the initials of their surnames.
“We are really excited about the design and construction of our new, luxurious SKR40 Renanda,” said Renanda. “We are delighted to be working with Light Ray Yachts as we know their attention to detail and quality workmanship means we are in safe hands.”
Ilker Yitik of Light Ray Yachts added: “We are delighted to be taking part in this journey with SKAYR Yachts. We are ready to develop a long-lasting relationship and collaborate on more projects to build premium-quality luxury yachts.”
SKAYR Yachts is developing a range of aluminium-hulled sports cruisers including the SKR50, which is powered by triple V12 Mercury 600s and is expected to top 60 knots. However, the SKR40 is the first model in production and has already generated strong interest according to Dennis de Roos, SKAYR’S Interim Commercial Director.
“SKAYR Yachts offers a new and contemporary design that radiates premium quality and a fit and finish expected of a true superyacht,” De Roos said. “The sheer amount of positive interest in the SKR40 Renanda has been astounding. We already have a strong list of potential customers who can’t wait to see the first in the water.”
