The first SX112 in Asia, the first SX88 in Hong Kong and an SL 96A were delivered to Hong Kong in December, while an SX76 – a model with several units in Hong Kong – has been sold into Sanya, crowning another impressive year for Sanlorenzo in Asia.
The SX88 was the first model of Sanlorenzo’s pioneering crossover series, the SX112 is the new flagship of the range, while the SL96A is among asymmetric models in the builder’s planing series. The three units join a fast-growing fleet of Sanlorenzo yachts in Hong Kong, the home of Simpson Marine, which has represented the Italian builder in the region as Sanlorenzo Asia since 2015.
Nick Stratton, Sanlorenzo Asia Sales Manager, said: “We are delighted to see the ongoing significant growth of the demand for and trust in Sanlorenzo in Asia, with the support of our dedicated professional team who continue to deliver an excellent customer experience and to share their passion for all aspects of yachting.”
Meanwhile, the sale of the SX76 into Sanya is significant as it follows Hainan’s status as a Free Trade Port (FTP), announced in 2020. The island province’s FTP status benefits yacht owners as there’s no tax while a boat is operating as a charter vessel in China.
Angel Zhou, Simpson Marine’s China General Manager, said: “Hainan is set to be one of the most open and internationalised zones in the region. It is trade and investment friendly, boasts a robust legal regime, maintains a comprehensive financial services sector, and demonstrates safe and efficient oversight. It’s a very appealing overall package for yachting.”
Yachting is among sectors poised to benefit from FTP policies and Simpson Marine has officially registered its operations within the Port business zone, allowing the company to import yachts into Hainan and benefit from the zero-tax policy. In early 2021, Simpson Marine was the first dealer to sell a yacht – a Lagoon 46 – into the Hainan FTP and more have followed.
Zhou added: “The procedures are still quite complex and due for simplification in future, but with our past successful cases of various yachts sales, we’re confident we can help more owners enjoy their yachts in Sanya. This is a significantly positive step for the growth of yachting within the region.”
In other Sanlorenzo activity in Asia, Sanlorenzo Asia recently sold a pre-owned SD126 lying in Singapore into North Asia, where the 38m model will be delivered in early 2022. The SD126 is the flagship of Sanlorenzo’s semi-displacement range.
