Galeon is having another exciting year for new models, having launched the 375 GTO and flagship 800 Fly last year.

This year, the Polish builder held the world premieres of its 440 Fly and 560 Fly at the Miami International Boat Show and showed them at the Cannes Yachting Festival, with both models integrating the same drop-down sides seen on flybridge sisters like the 400, 500 and 640.

In the three-cabin 560, the saloon can open on both sides, to port for a waterside bar and fully to starboard, where the interior dining area can be converted into alfresco dining with sea views over the fold-down balcony.

The three-cabin 440 has a much larger saloon than the 400, with sofas on both sides, while both new Fly models feature the multi-functional cockpits, foredecks and enormous flybridges the brand is known for.

Galeon 450 HTC

Galeon has also launched the 450 HTC, a hard top coupe model set to premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 25-29. Features include a high-low swim platform featuring integrated steps, a flip-up outdoor galley aft of the cockpit, a sliding cockpit bimini, an opening sunroof inside and three cabins below.

The newest model from Nimbus is the Weekender 11 (W11), which debuted at Cannes. The 41-footer is grouped with the W9 and 305 Drophead in the Swedish builder’s Day Cruiser series, but is a semi-enclosed ‘weekender’ built on the same hull as the open Tender 11 and the enclosed Commuter 11.

Fitted with twin Mercury outboards, either 300hp V8s or 400hp V10s, the yacht starts with an aft facing sofa before a covered J-shaped seating area with outdoor galley. There’s also a foredeck sunbathing area that can be covered by a bimini, and a lower deck with two double beds and a bathroom.

Swan Overshadow

Also at Cannes, Nautor Swan debuted its 43ft OverShadow, which is produced with the Shadow – the Finnish brand’s first motor yacht – at ‘Casa Shadow’ in Italy in partnership with Oversea Italy. The OverShadow is effectively the inboard version of the Shadow and features additional space below deck.

Spanish builder Tesoro debuted its T38 Powercat at Cannes, while Gulf Craft premiered its flagship power catamaran, the two-cabin SilverCat 46 Lux, at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show. Adding to the 34 (CC, HT, Lux) and 40 (CC, Lux) models in the range, the SilverCat 46 Lux is available with two 440hp inboard engines or even four 400hp outboards.

However, Gulf Craft’s most high-profile world premieres at this year’s Dubai show were the Majesty 111, later exhibiting at the Monaco Yacht Show, and the Nomad 101, which appeared at the Sydney International Boat Show in August.

Designed with Netherlands-based Phathom Studio, the 34m, 240GT Majesty 111 has a semi-displacement hull, enclosed skylounge, main-deck owner’s stateroom with a skylight into the flybridge plunge pool, plus five lower-deck guest cabins including a 15sqm forward VIP suite. There’s also storage for a 4m-plus tender and jet-ski, and a three-cabin crew quarters for up to six crew.

Gulf Craft Nomad 101

An extended, tri-deck version of the Nomad 95 SUV, the 130GT Nomad 101 has a new sky deck and a full-walkaround upper deck with 35sqm of exterior area and 16sqm of interior lounge space. Accommodation includes a main-deck master suite and four ensuite guest cabins on the lower deck. The yacht can carry a Williams TurboJet 325 tender and two three-seater jet-skis.

Aquila has released two new models this year, starting with the 42 Yacht, which had its world premiere at Miami and had its European debut at Cannes.

The new entry model for the powercat leader’s Yacht range of flybridge models including the 44, 54 and flagship 70, the 42 Yacht retains brand signatures like large outdoor areas, a cockpit bar and flybridge-foredeck steps, while introducing new cabin options below deck and a new swinging hammock off the tender crane.

Aquila’s second new model is the 47 Molokai, set to debut at Fort Lauderdale and reputed to have a top speed over 50 knots. Following the 28 Molokai, the 47 Molokai is the second model in the brand’s Offshore series of fishing boats. Boasting an overall length of 49ft 4in, the ‘Big Kahuna’ has a 45ft 8in, double-stepped hull, which helps reduce drag and improve handling and stability, while its bulkheads are in carbon-fibre.

Leopard 40 Powercat

Like Aquila, Leopard had a major premiere at Miami, with the new 40 Powercat completing the brand’s new-look family of powercats, which also includes the 46 and flagship 53, all by Simonis Voogd Design and built in Cape Town, South Africa.

The 40 Powercat features what Leopard describes as the largest flybridge ever seen on a 40-footer,  while other exterior spaces include the transoms, aft cockpit and foredeck sunpads. The foredeck is accessible by the side decks or through the forward saloon door, a brand signature since 2010. A full-length en-suite owner’s cabin occupies the starboard hull, while to port are two guest cabins and a shared bathroom.

70 Sunreef Power

Poland’s Sunreef Yachts is enjoying another spectacular year for new models and hosted three world premieres at Cannes, comprising the 70 Eco sailing cat in Port Canto and two powercats in Vieux Port. One of them was the 70 Sunreef Power, which joins the 60 and 80 models in the builder’s standard range of luxury powercats.

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco – based on the 80 Sunreef Power – was arguably the most exciting of the builder’s premieres as it’s the first powercat from the Eco range to be displayed at a major boat show, although the yacht on show in Cannes and Monaco is the model’s third unit (hull two, Sol, appeared on the cover of Issue 72).

The first 60 Sunreef Power Eco is also expected to launch this year. All Eco models feature Sunreef’s in-house ‘solar skin’ – which is less than 1mm thick – integrated into the hulls, superstructure and bimini roof, as well as an ultralight battery bank.
