This year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 22-25 will reflect a series of changes designed to benefit attending superyacht clients and “promote the superyacht lifestyle to a new set of wealthy clients”, according to organiser Informa Group. Founded in 1991, the Monaco Yacht Show is firmly established as the world’s leading superyacht show.
Since the cancellation of last September’s edition, Informa has created a Steering Committee made up of decision-makers from the yachting industry and which will play an advisory role, supporting the show’s development strategy. Informa also plans to provide financial support, matching the annual amounts invested by the industry in its marketing action plan to showcase the superyacht lifestyle.
“The rebuild is designed to rise to the commercial and marketing challenges facing the market by promoting the superyacht lifestyle to a new set of wealthy clients,” Informa stated. “The Monaco Yacht Show will be driven more powerfully than ever by the superyacht clientele. It will offer a bespoke experience of unparalleled prestige.”
The changes include the designation of three categories of visitor, each with its own badge: Discover for yacht clients, Advise for their advisors and consultants, and Connect for trade visitors. A new registration system will identify the profile of each visitor in advance to designate the appropriate badge and connect visitors with suitable exhibitors.
“A future buyer will be interested in meeting with designers and builders, whereas the buyer’s consultant or captain may well prefer to discuss with equipment manufacturers and luxury companies. Making the right match will be simpler now,” Informa said.
The new badge system is designed to make it easier for private visitors to board the superyachts and luxury tenders.
Furthermore, on the show’s opening day, Wednesday (September 22), the Dockside Area will only be open to Discover and Advise badge holders so they can meet with shipyards, yacht brokers, designers or tender manufacturers in a more personalised environment. From Thursday onwards, the Dockside Area will be open to all participants.
Two new first-class VIP entrances will be located near the Upper Deck Lounge – the exhibition space for the show’s luxury partners – and close to the Yacht Club de Monaco.
In addition, the show’s various exhibition areas will be renamed, identifying each distinct theme to make it easier for visitors to find their way around.
The show will continue its official VIP visit programme, the Sapphire Experience, which features a programme of activities in the show and in Monaco for superyacht owners, charterers and future clients.
“By placing the final superyacht client at its very heart, the revamped version of the MYS aims to win over new audiences from other high-end spheres beyond yachting, thus building on the marketing strategy deployed over recent years,” Informa said.
To safeguard the health of participants at the Show, Informa will implement all necessary health measures guided by its AllSecure programme and health regulations issued by Monaco’s government.
