ILIAD Catamarans is developing the 53S, a sporty sedan model that follows its 50 and 74 flybridge models as well as the 62 due for release in Australia in the middle of this year. The 53S is powered by 440hp Volvo or Yanmar engines delivering a top speed of 24 knots and a range of more than 3,000nm at low speeds.

ILIAD believes the semi-custom 53S will enjoy strong demand, with a well optioned model priced from US$1.76 million. A standard unit includes air-conditioning, generator, full electronics, bow thruster, 521 litres of fridge/freezer space, washer/dryer, lithium batteries, 5,000w inverter, solar panels, entertainment system and more.

ILIAD 53S will have a 3,000nm-plus range

Like other ILIAD models, the 16.35m motor yacht is ‘beachable’ in emergencies and has a full vinylester hull, Diab foam core throughout, high bridgedeck clearance and exceptional safety features.

Outdoor areas include the aft cockpit, which features a bar area and dining for up to 10 guests, barbecue, ice maker and refrigerator, while waste bins are concealed in cleverly designed cabinetry. A central aft platform is optional and becomes a waterside lounging area when the tender is deployed.

There are handrails along the length of the bulwarks and around the bow, where the foredeck offers a C-shaped sofa for another attractive outdoor social area.

Indoor areas include a large forward lounge, helm station and dining for up to eight people, while a large skylight adds to the natural light. The galley has an island bench, leading European appliances, full-size refrigerator and freezer, and well-designed storage.

The master suite occupies the starboard hull and features an oversized island queen bed, panoramic windows, an expansive en-suite, and more storage and space than any other boat in its class, according to ILIAD. The two en-suite guest cabins in the port hull also have an abundance of natural light due to the generous windows.

With an overall length of 53ft 8in and a beam of 24ft 11in, the ILIAD 53S has a slightly bigger platform than the ILIAD 50, which continues to be a resounding success for the young brand, with seven models sold in Australia. There is also an ILIAD 50 in Singapore and a model will be on display at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 19-22.

Founded in 2019, ILIAD has forward orders stretching into 2024 and is finalising plans to open a new shipyard to facilitate increased production across its range.
