A new Fountaine Pajot MY4.S has been sold to Vietnam, marking the brand’s first new unit sold to the Southeast Asian country. Fountaine Pajot is one of the world’s biggest sailing cat builders and has recently upgraded its motor yacht line, with the MY4.S debuting at the Cannes Yachting Festival last year and joining the MY5, MY6 and Power 67 models.
The MY4.S sold to Vietnam has been sold to a resort/charter company by local dealer Vietyacht and is scheduled to arrive in early 2023, with the client owning properties in Halong Bay in the north of the country and Phu Quoc island off the country’s southwest tip corner.
The client considered the MY4.S “an affordable alternative to 50ft monohull and very interesting for charter/party boat because of the large outdoor space for its sub-40ft length”. The yacht has been ordered for charter and could be set up with four guest cabins.
Kevin Corfa, Head of Fountaine Pajot in Asia, said the new model differs to her bigger sisters by not having a flybridge, but that the cruiser design is starting to gain appeal and that at least one further unit could arrive in Asia next year.
“We struggled at first to get some traction in Asia considering she does not have a flybridge, but after further consideration from our clients, it appears she is a great alternative to sporty 40-50ft motor yachts,” Corfa said.
“She has great performance, close to her monohull competition, but has much more range and possibilities of use, so we have great hopes. The MY4.S was on display in a private event in La Rochelle recently and we have received Asian guests on board and they were very impressed.”
