Damen Yachting has confirmed the sale of the first Amels 80, a model that premiered online this year before building of its hull began in Romania in June. The all-new 80m (261ft) Amels Limited Editions is scheduled for delivery in 2025, with Burgess representing the owner and acting as project manager.
Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting, said: “We are incredibly pleased to be sharing the news that the first Amels 80 has sold. This new Limited Editions design really reflects our continuous drive to adapt and evolve to ensure that we continue to reshape our pedigree, experience and knowhow for future generations.
“We very much look forward to continuing the build journey with our client and the team at Burgess. This is a proud moment for everyone who has been involved in the project so far.”
The Amels 80 features exterior design by Espen Øino and custom interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the Dutch studio working with Amels for the first time. Features include a 200sqm (2,153sqft) sun deck, a beach club that opens on three sides and includes wellness and spa areas, huge framed panoramic views over the ocean on main deck, and a dedicated owner’s deck. The yacht has also been designed to carry multiple watercraft and toys, while there is a helicopter landing area on the foredeck.
Øino said: “The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she departs the yard. She is a big ship, full of features, with an impressive interior volume at 2,175GT. She is everything and more that you will expect from an 80m yacht. There is a sense of scale, but nothing is wasted.”
The Amels 80 sale announcement followed the confirmation of another sale of the Amels 60, a 197ft, 830GT Øino design introduced in 2019. Scheduled for delivery in 2024, the recent sale represents the sixth hull from this new generation of Amels Limited Editions.
Jorrit Pilaar, Damen Yachting’s Sales Manager, worked closely with the new European owner throughout the sales process.
“This latest Amels 60 is a wonderful example of our Limited Editions concept,” Pilaar said. “The owner has been able to step into a new build just a couple of years before delivery and still benefit from the opportunity to make a number of customisations to the yacht to suit his and his family’s needs as a world cruiser.”
The new Amels 60 will feature the same window design as the first hull while a striking colour scheme and minor exterior features such as windbreakers and swim stairs will differentiate her from the Amels 60s to date.
The owner has appointed Winch Design to create the custom interiors, which also include slight modifications to the interior layout to accommodate the owner’s intention to cruise worldwide.
