The first Excess 11 in Asia has arrived in Japan, where the model’s regional debut will be held during the Excess Tour in Yokohama from March 20-21. Commissioned by dealer Odyssey Marine, the smallest Excess sailing catamaran is also scheduled to be presented at the Japan International Boat Show from April 15-18.
With an overall length of 37ft 2in (11.33m), the Excess 11 is the brand’s entry model and the only large-scale production catamaran of this size on the market, according to Groupe Beneteau. The twin helm station aft is a signature Excess feature and there’s also a retractable bimini over the cockpit, which features seating on all four sides and a dining table.
The interior has a galley and an L-shaped sofa with table, while the lower deck has two bathrooms and the options of three or four cabins. The unit in Japan is a three-cabin version, which has an expansive owner’s cabin in the starboard hull.
The brand’s first unit in Asia-Pacific was an Excess 12 delivered last year to Australia, where it was displayed by dealer Flagstaff Marine at October’s Boating Rendez-Vous in Sydney along with Beneteau and Lagoon yachts. A flagship Excess 15 was then delivered to New Zealand through dealer 36 Degrees Brokers.
