Singapore’s first Boaters Against Plastic clean-up in November resulted in 2,070kg – over two tonnes – of washed-up rubbish being collected from the Southern Islands of Hantu, Lazarus and St John’s.
Tom Peacock-Nazil, founder of Seven Clean Seas, and Moana owner Nico Civelli, who initiated the Boaters Against Plastic initiative
Held on a Saturday morning blessed with nice weather, the event attracted 102 people on 21 boats and four jetskis, led by Nico Civelli’s MCY 86 Moana.
Over two tonnes of rubbish was collected and carried back on the MCY 86 Moana
ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove hosted both the registration and rubbish collection
The event was co-organised and promoted by the Singapore Marine Guide and supported by Seven Clean Seas to clean up some of Singapore’s most popular boating destinations and bring awareness to the increasingly visible rubbish problem seen in the city’s waters.
