The 28 Molokai launches Aquila’s Offshore range

Aquila has introduced a new Offshore spearheaded by the Aquila 28 Molokai and the Aquila 28 Molokai Cuddy power catamarans. The models are the smallest in the brand’s portfolio aside from the purpose-built tenders the brand produces for its larger models.

The Offshore range complements the Sport range featuring the 32 Sport and 36 Sport, as well as the flagship Yacht range of flybridge models comprising the 44 Yacht, 54 Yacht and 70 Luxury.

The design of the two 28 Molokai models takes inspiration from native Hawaiian watercraft developed for the rigours of island hopping in the tough Pacific waters. Lex Raas (Leader, Issue 60), President of Aquila Power Catamarans, has a house in Hawaii and knows the waters well.

“At Aquila, we continue our quest to be global leaders of innovative catamarans. Aquila enters the offshore segment with a modern twist on a proven Hawaiian layout by shifting the paradigm of innovative boats and designs,” said Lex Raas (Leader, Issue 60), who helped form Aquila, a collaboration between US dealer MarineMax and Asian builder Sino Eagle Group.

“Our new centre-console power catamarans are second to none. It has been magic collaborating with MarineMax and Sino Eagle for the past nine years.”

Both hulls are designed with a sharp bow entry that tapers to a planing pad. Unlike most outboard offshore power catamarans, the hulls are spaced wide apart and the broad stance allows for expansive side decks surrounding the centre console. The twin outboards are set wide apart to create a secure, smooth and efficient ride at any speed.

Alain Raas, Aquila’s Brand Manager, said: “We are very excited to be launching our new Offshore line with the amazing 28 Molokai and 28 Molokai Cuddy. Both models are ideally suited for enthusiasts around the world and entertaining friends and family while providing a robust, efficient, safe and comfortable boat.

“Both models expand our product offering by introducing a new clientele to our ever-popular line-up. We look forward to introducing and seeing new families and fishermen on the water taking advantage of these incredible boats.”

Aquila is represented in multiple Asian markets by Simpson Marine (Profile, Issue 62).
