The 50-suite Project Sama is due to launch in 2025

Aman has announced the 183m Project Sama, which is set to launch in 2025 and feature 50 spacious luxury suites, each with a private balcony. The 600-footer has been designed with Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and is being developed through a joint-venture between Aman and Jeddah-based Cruise Saudi, of which Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is a shareholder.

Project Sama is part of the expansion and diversification of Aman, which opened its first resort in 1988 in Phuket and now has over 30 resorts and hotels, with a further eight properties under construction. Aman’s new product lines since 2018 include skincare, supplements, fragrances and clothing.

Since the 2014 opening of Aman Tokyo, the company’s first city hotel, Aman has been developing more urban projects including multiple properties in both the US and Saudi Arabia, where the collaboration on Project Sama continues its ambition to offer premium travel experiences.

Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman, said: “The announcement of Project Sama marks an exciting moment in Aman’s growth and evolution. We not only continue to diversify our geographical portfolio on land but also at sea, creating sanctuaries in unfrequented locations and continuing to reframe the concept of luxury hospitality.

Project Sama “will be unlike any other yacht experience”

Project Sama will provide transformative experiences within the revered Aman setting and service. It will be unlike any other yacht experience, ultimately creating a whole new category in on-the-water discovery.”

In addition to the 50 suites, the vessel will have international dining options, a club and lounge, an Aman Spa with Japanese garden, two helipads and an expansive beach club offering guests direct access to the water.

Fawaz Farooqui, Managing Director of Cruise Saudi, said: “The signing of this partnership adds a new layer to Cruise Saudi’s offering and is a testament to the unique tourism experience that is exploring Saudi by sea, as well as demonstrating Cruise Saudi’s commitment to growing and expanding the cruise industry in Saudi.

“We aspire to further collaboration with Aman that will bring additional ultra-luxury experiences at sea. We look forward to working with Aman in reaching our vision of Saudi becoming a premier global destination and immersing our guests in diverse nature, rich culture and heritage through an unforgettable journey that is truly unique to Saudi.”
