Born and based in the Netherlands, Laura Fygi has been a solo artist since the early 1990s

The Jazz Association (Singapore), also known as JASS, is staging the virtual ‘Let There Be Love’ benefit gala on March 14 at 7.30pm. Originally planned as a live event last July, the virtual event will now be a key be part of JASS’S fifth-anniversary celebrations.

Laura Fygi will headline the event and be accompanied by Jeremy Monteiro, Singapore’s ‘King of Swing’. The duo, with an ensemble of members from the JASS orchestras, will perform in tandem using the latest extended-reality (XR) technology to perform Let There Be Love and other popular jazz tunes. Edwin Tong, Singapore’s Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, will be guest of honour.

Monteiro, Executive Director and Music Director of Jazz Association (Singapore), said: “It’s an incredible honour for JASS to present the first virtual jazz gala in Singapore and we can’t wait for all of you to enjoy the show. With the latest XR technology and Laura’s delightful appearance, it is bound to be an enchanting experience for all. It’s definitely a show not to be missed.”

Gala table buyers and their guests will also be individually treated to a specially curated dinner delivered to their homes, as they enjoy the evening’s performances and proceedings. Leading up to the gala, JASS will be hosting the Best Headdress Awards from March 1-14.

Proceeds from the gala concert will help to fund JASS’ various causes such as supporting eligible local jazz players impacted by the pandemic, nurturing local jazz talents, promotion of the jazz scene in Singapore and other worthy initiatives.
