China’s first Excess 11 has safely arrived in Hainan following a successful delivery trip from Hong Kong, after the 37ft 5in sailing catamaran had been shipped from the builder’s factory in Vendée, France.
The sale and delivery were coordinated by Chinese dealer Vastar Yachts, which received the yacht in Hong Kong and worked with the Excess Asia-Pacific team on commissioning the boat.

The delivery team from Vastar Yachts then sailed the boat from Hong Kong and arrived at Clearwater Bay Marina in Sanya in the south of Hainan after nearly 60 hours of non-stop sailing at an average of eight knots, covering over 400nm in seas with a swell of 1.5-3m.
“The Excess 11 proved to be a reliable catamaran for long cruising, offering exhilarating sailing sensations,” Vastar Yachts stated.

The Excess 11 is the entry model of the brand’s portfolio of models, which are notable for their twin aft helm stations that give the skipper a greater ‘sailing sensation’, better views of the sails and the option of a retractable bimini.
The model includes the option of three or four cabins, has two heads, outdoor lounging in the aft cockpit and foredeck, an indoor galley and saloon, and ample storage.

Owned by Groupe Beneteau and launched in 2019, Excess also produces the 12, 14 and 15 sailing catamarans. Excess Asia-Pacific expects over 25 of the brand’s models to be sailing in the region by the end of this year, having started with the delivery of an Excess 12 to Australia in 2020.
