Lürssen delivers 90m Norn

Lürssen has delivered the 90m Norn, which recently left the shipyard and embarked on her maiden voyage. Formerly known as Project 1601 and launched in February (click for article), the 295-footer has a beam of 14.7m (48ft 2in) and was built for a couple that previously owned a 70m Lürssen, which they had for over 20 years.

For the new yacht, the owners “required top-notch design and engineering as well as seagoing comfort for their family,” according to Lürssen. For the exterior, the owners once again worked with Espen Oeino, who created a striking design dominated by flat surfaces, straight lines and angular corners, along with a series of extraordinary features.

Lürssen stated that “the crispness of the exterior styling suggests a geometrical precision that permeates every facet of the yacht,” with the interior by Dölker + Voges echoing the same design themes as the exterior. Cornelsen & Partner acted as Project Manager for the owners’ team throughout the construction process.

As with all Lürssen yachts, Norn is equipped with state-of-the art technology and engineering systems including zero-speed stabilisers, an outside cinema, and a liftable pool floor with dance floor illumination. A dynamic positioning system enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth.
