Following record superyacht sales in 2021, Fraser CEO Raphael Sauleau expects the market to continue to be strong this year, especially in the 30-40m sector, the key segment for new entry-level buyers.
“Last year saw a new record in yacht sales as the benefits of yachting became clearer than ever before. Sales increased across all size segments, but the smaller sizes experienced the most activity, which is to be expected as the sub-40m market accounts for an average of 70% of sales worldwide,” Sauleau wrote in Fraser’s contribution to YACHT STYLE Issue 64.
“Our brokers saw a 46% increase in sales in this segment and yachts were also selling faster, with Fraser’s listings selling twice as quickly as they did in 2019.”
Sauleau’s editorial mentioned the 60m-plus segment was also extremely healthy and that Fraser’s sales in this size range increased last year by 150% compared to 2020 and 2019.
“It is likely that all size ranges will continue to see healthy activity in 2022 providing the overall world economy remains stable,” he said. “However, prices are likely to increase due to the lack of inventory and the increase in prices of the new build market.”
