Austrian manufacturer Belassi is exhibiting at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show at stand QA17 and offering test drives to media and selected individuals on its award-winning Burrasca ‘marine hypercraft’.

Test drives are available from 10am-5pm on each day of the show (September 22-25) and are held south of Port Hercule at the Roca Jet Club in Port de Fontvieille on Quai Jean-Charles Rey. Belassi created Burrasca as a “super sports car for the water”

The Burrasca was honoured as a Red Dot Winner in the Watercraft category of this year’s Red Dot Award competition for product design. One of the world’s leading design international competitions, the Red Dot Award was first held in 1955 and today recognises leaders in product design, communication design and design concepts.

Christian Hintersteininger, Managing Director of Belassi, said: “La Burrasca is Italian for ‘storm’ or ‘strong wind’ and describes our super sports car for the water with its 320hp, three-cylinder turbo engine. The internationally coveted award celebrates the Burrasca’s outstanding design and ground-breaking technologies. It is great recognition for the performance of our company and our entire team.”

The Burrasca is a Red Dot Winner 2021

Belassi spent four years developing the Burrasca, which is made up of over 2,000 parts and hand-crafted in Austria. German studio Genesis Design is largely responsible for the design of the Burrasca, which combines elegant lines, sporty proportions inspired by supercars and exceptional driving performance.

The hull is one of the design’s major achievements, with sophisticated hydrodynamics allowing extreme cornering speeds and remarkable acceleration, boosted by a 320hp engine specially developed by Belassi.

“Marine hypercraft is the perfect term for our extremely high standards of quality and performance, and underlines our manufacturing approach,” Hintersteininger added. “Through the synergy of innovative technology and exceptional design, combined with authentic manufacturing expertise, we have created a new and unrivalled premium segment.”

The Burrasca is built in Austria

The cockpit and chassis of the Burrasca feature carbon to increase strength and lower weight, while owners can customise colour and paintwork.

Waldemar Pöchhacker, Belassi’s Head of Marketing and Sales, said: “Our credo is to exceed the requirements of all our customers. That’s why every Burrasca is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, made in Austria and thought out down to the smallest detail.”

The sentiments were echoed by the Red Dot jury, which stated that the Burrasca “skilfully combines craftsmanship and technology, while its dynamic appearance reveals a deep love of detail”.
