The Halong Bay Company has signed a contract to build and operate Tiny CatBa Boutique Marina in Halong Bay. Situated in Tran Chau Harbour on the southwest of Cat Ba Island, the small marina is expected to receive its first yachts by March and have 12-15 berths operational by April. Facilities will include water, electricity and fuel, while an F&B facility is scheduled to open in June.

Halong Bay is Vietnam’s most popular tourist attraction and one of the country’s key locations targeted for the development of yachting. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the spectacular destination features hundreds of limestone karsts, protected bays, inlets and natural harbours.

Cat Ba Island, situated east of Haiphong and south of Ha Long city, receives thousands of visitors per day by cable car and ferry, with local hotels typically sold out at weekends.

Michael Aumock, CEO of Halong Bay Company, said: “We are delighted to be part of the yachting history of Vietnam by being able to provide a professionally-operated marina for yacht owners who live here and those who want to visit this beautiful part of the world.

“Tiny CatBa Boutique Marina will provide a safe, secure and reasonably-priced location to keep a yacht, while offering direct access to all Halong Bay has to offer. It will be a real yachtsman’s destination, casual but professional, with excellent service, great burgers and ice-cold beer.”

Aumock, the former General Manager of AnaMarina in Nha Trang, co-founded Halong Bay Company with Andrew Nguyen.

The company has also secured access to the dock and facilities at a Halong Bay shipyard that can be used for superyacht berthing, offering a depth of 8m and up to 110m of dock space. To date, the facility has been mainly used for maintenance and visits by small cruise ships operating Halong Bay tours.
