The second Fountaine Pajot MY40 in Asia has been sold to the Philippines and is set to arrive in early 2021, following a stop in Hong Kong in late December. The three-cabin motor yacht has a top speed of 24 knots and a 750nm range, and was sold by Asia Yachting, which represents the French catamaran builder in the Philippines.

She’s on her way to the Philippines and will arrive when the pandemic situation allows. The MY40 is a remarkable power catamaran, with the same space as a 55ft monohull motor yacht.”

In Hong Kong, sister company Dufour has established a partnership with Sun Hing Shipyard, which will commission all Dufour boats in the territory. With a new yacht sales team, the shipyard will also represent Dufour in Hong Kong in cooperation with Shenzhen-based Omnia Marine.
Sun Hing’s team includes Vivian Chan and John Tse, who sailed for Hong Kong in two Asian Games and multiple world championships in the 420 and 470 classes, with a third in the 2014 Asian Sailing Championship in Incheon, South Korea.
“Sun Hing is pleased to represent Dufour in Hong Kong and introduce the brand to more sailors,” says Tse, who still sails in many local races, mostly on a TP52. “My experience in the sport has provided me with a lot of knowledge about sailing, especially my time as a professional sailor. This provided me with a good foundation and now I’m continuing to learn about sailing boats with Dufour.”

Dufour, which Fountaine Pajot bought in 2018, also announced that it sold its first 470 to Asia following the purchase of the new model by an owner in China. The new yacht will arrive in 2021.

In early December, Dufour held the official online premiere of the 470 and the flagship 61 – its two newest models – during the World Wide Nautic Days, which comprised five sessions across different time zones for dealers, clients and prospects around the globe.
Fountaine Pajot held a similar event the following day and included presentations of its new Isla 40 sailing yacht and MY40 powercat, with sessions split across sailing catamarans and motor yachts.
“Fountaine Pajot Nautic Days was a success in connecting potential customers with the brand by providing an exclusive overview of the construction and commissioning process of the latest sail and motor yacht models,” said one dealer, who had several clients online. “The event is a good example of how Fountaine Pajot is adapting to the new digital age and forming a strong network with a growing fanbase.”
